W3 - Professorship "Experimental Physics: Molecular Quantum Physics with Synchrotron Radiation" at the University of Kassel, Germany

The position is intended to represent the field in research and teaching and, in particular, to provide impetus for collaborative projects involving the Institute. In addition, active participation in the ongoing Collaborative Research Center "Extreme Light for the Analysis and Control of Molecular CHirality (ELCH)" is expected. Here, chirality aspects of molecules in the gas phase are investigated, for example by photoion and photoelectron circular dichroism, as well as other methods, some of which are unique worldwide. In addition, there is the possibility of participation in the scientific center CINSaT ("Center for Interdisciplinary Nanostructure Science and Technology") of the University of Kassel, in which disciplines from physics, chemistry, biology and engineering sciences work together.

Prerequisites for appointment are therefore scientifically outstanding publications in high-impact peer-review journals in the field of experimental molecular quantum physics with synchrotron radiation, international visibility, successful acquisition of external funding and a complementary addition to existing research directions. In addition, a three-page project outline for possible participation in the SFB must be submitted with the application documents for the upcoming application period. Information on the current projects can be found at: https://www.uni-kassel.de/go/sfb1319 and from the spokesperson of the SFB ELCH, Prof. Dr. Arno Ehresmann. The methodological focus will be on work using spectroscopic methods with synchrotron radiation or with free-electron lasers. Thematically, the professorship will deal with quantum, ultrafast, photoionization or photodissociation phenomena in molecules or with energy and charge transfer phenomena in clusters and liquid jets.
Teaching responsibilities include participation in teaching in the bachelor's degree programs in Physics and Nanostructure Science, the teaching degree program in Physics, the English-language master's degree programs in Physics and Nanoscience, and in the physics teaching export. Therefore, in addition to teaching in English, the ability to teach in German is expected in the near future. Participation in academic self-administration is part of the service obligation.
