Postdoctoral or Senior Postdoctoral Researcher (Theoretical Studies) at Louisiana State University, USA

Job Posting Title: Postdoctoral or Senior Postdoctoral Researcher (Theoretical Studies)

Department: LSUAM LSUAM Science - PA - AMO Theory (Francois Mauger (00010472))

Job Description:

A position as Postdoctoral or Senior Postdoctoral Researcher is available in the Ultrafast AMO Theory group in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Louisiana State University. The group includes 3 faculty (Profs. M.B. Gaarde, F. Mauger, and K.J. Schafer) and about twice as many junior members (Students and Postdocs). The selected candidate will participate in theoretical studies of the interactions between molecules and x-ray light, primarily as a means to triggering and observing ultrafast correlated-electron processes in these systems.

The Ultrafast AMO group and the Department of Physics and Astronomy strives to cultivate an inclusive environment that is open, welcoming, and supportive of individuals of all backgrounds. For questions or additional information regarding the position, please contact Dr. F. Mauger at fmauger@lsu.edu.

Responsibilities:

Participate in theoretical studies of the interactions between molecules and x-ray light, primarily as a means to triggering and observing ultrafast correlated-electron processes in these systems. Research (90% effort): The researcher will be primarily responsible for the development and application of large-scale calculations methods to describe the interaction between short x-ray pulses and molecular systems. A Senior Postdoctoral Researcher will also have support for independent research which will be determined by its relationship to currently funded research, as well as its potential for opening new avenues of investigation. Publication, conference, and student supervision (10% effort – both Postdoctoral or Senior Postdoctoral Researchers): Additional duties include assisting in the supervision of graduate and undergraduate work in the Ultrafast AMO Theory group at LSU. The researcher is expected to regularly publish papers in the refereed literature, and to attend at least one professional meeting each year to present the results of this research.

Minimum qualifications:

(Both) PhD in physics or a related field. (Sr. postdoctoral researcher) 3 years of related work experience

Preferred qualifications:

Candidate with a background in ultrafast and/or computational AMO theory, time-dependent quantum dynamics, or large-scale computations will have first consideration.
