Networking Activity on High Energy Lasers (NAHEL)
Annual meeting
Darmstadt 5-6 May 2010
The meeting was hosted by the GSI-Helmholtzzentrum in the woody scenery of the Lichtenberg Haus in Darmstadt, Germany. The meeting was restricted to the NAHEL network in order to create the favorable conditions for an open discussion across the participating laboratories. Participants of the LULI, France (x2), PALS, Czech Republic (x2) and RAL, UK (x2) joined the staff of the PHELIX laser to exchange on operation aspects of mid-to-large scale facilities. In addition, a group of users of the laser facilities were invited to share their views on the subject. The meeting was organized around round tables on operation-related subjects. Each laboratory moderated a ½ day discussion on a subject of primary interest to him. The subjects discussed were:
• Operation of a large laser facility, moderator Dr. U. Eisenbarth
• Laser diagnostics, moderator Dr. T. Winstone
• Large size optical components, moderator S. Savalle
• Web based communication
