Ultrafast Optics - High Field Short Wavelength (UFO VII - HFSW XIII) to be held in Arcachon (France) from August 31 to September 4, 2009.
  • When Aug 31, 2009 12:00 AM to Sep 04, 2009 12:00 AM (Etc/GMT+2 / UTC-200)
  • Add event to calendar iCal

UFO has traditionally been a meeting centered around ultrafast laser technology and is therefore ideally co-located with the HFSW meeting, where themes of high intensities and ultrafast timescales are central. HFSW deals with the latest advances in high-field phenomena and in the generation of intense coherent short-wavelength light, including X-ray lasers and attosecond optics.

UFO–HFSW '09 will cover a wide range of topics with a special focus on the generation, amplification and measurement of ultrashort laser pulses: from particle and X-ray beams to ultrafast Terahertz sources, from picosecond to attosecond durations and from fiber lasers to PetaWatt-class systems.
This edition follows the UFO–HFSW ’05 (Nara, Japan, Sept. 25-30, 2005) and UFO–HFSW ’07 (Santa Fe, USA, Sept. 2-7, 2007) conferences.
The meeting will be held in Arcachon, in the Aquitaine region (France). Located in a protected bay on the southwest coast of France, Arcachon is the seaside resort of the city of Bordeaux and was recently listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. Arcachon is a city renowned for its wonderful coastline, arts and 1920's buildings.
