Registration is closed.

 

Accommodation

Information about hotels to be provided by email. A shuttle bus will be available on October 9 (evening) and 10 (morning and evening) to/from the centre of Florence, as hotels are mostly located in the city centre. The shuttle bus will depart/end here >>

Hotel rooms in Florence can be booked through "Destination Florence", the Convention & Visitors Bureau. A few rooms at the Grand Hotel Adriatico (**** and corresponding rate) are available and can be booked through the form available here for download.

Important note: From October 9 to 11, Florence will host the most important Italian Education Trade fair, Didacta, with about 1500 attendees expected. For this reason we strongly recommend to book your accommodation in Florence well in advance.

 

Travel

Reaching LENS by bus/train from the city centre

From the city centre take the bus n. 23 (we suggest this way as the faster one to reach Polo Scientifico). The line starts at Sorgane, stops at the main train station of Florence (Santa Maria Novella) and ends at Nuovo Pignone. Change at the PANCIATICHI-FANFANI stop. From here you have to cross the road and take bus n. 59 (direction SCHIFF) that stops just inside the campus in front of the Physics Department. Duration: 45-55 minutes, depending on the traffic.

Much closer to the campus is the smaller railway station of Sesto Fiorentino, or the railway station of Zambra.
From the railway station of Sesto Fiorentino take the bus n. 66. The end of the line is the same as for bus n. 59 above.
From the railway station of Zambra it is possible to walk to Polo Scientifico in about 15 minutes (for walking directions, see the webpage of LENS).

Travel and accommodation for the Joint JRA meeting are covered by individual JRA budgets. Costs for the organisation of the meeting, meals, etc. are covered by Laserlab centrally.
