Research Associate position: time-resolved ARPES at ALLS at the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS), Quebec, Canada

The Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS) is looking for a research associate with proven experience in angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) to join the Advanced Laser Light Source (ALLS) laboratory.

ALLS, owing to the partnership with LaserNetUS and the recent award of CFI-MSI funds, plans to expand its research and technical team to grant reliable operation of its laser sources and endstations and to offer prime user support.

The new research associate will mainly work on the new time- and angle-resolved photoemission (TR-ARPES) endstation at ALLS, leading its maintenance, upgrades, and operation, as well as supporting internal and external users of ALLS as needed.

The selected candidate will participate in/lead scientific research at ALLS, as well as mentor/support scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and students using the ALLS endstations. Mentoring internal students will encompass activities such as their scientific and hands-on training, reviewing their thesis and presentations, and offering administrative support. The new research associate will participate in the drafting of scientific texts, such as journal articles, research reports, and grant applications. Furthermore, the selected candidate will support the management of the ALLS user facility by scheduling TR-ARPES beamtimes, granting reliable operation and scheduling upgrades of the TR-ARPES endstation (for instance, purchasing equipment and consumables), and automatizing the data acquisition and storage of all ALLS endstations.

Deadline for application: 13 February 2023
