Postdoctoral position on electrified solid/liquid interfaces at Ruhr University Bochum, Germany

A postdoctoral position is available immediately or upon mutual agreement in the group of Marialore Sulpizi at the Ruhr University Bochum, Germany to work on the atomistic characterization of electrified solid/liquid interfaces. Knowing the molecular structure of water next to a charged substrate is a prerequisite to the fundamental understanding of many natural phenomena as well as of great importance to the development of advanced energy conversion and storage devices.
We aim here to the characterization of electrified interfaces using ab initio molecular dynamics simulations as well as classical simulations using machine learnt potentials. The idea is to understand how the interplay between applied potentials and confinement influence the local dynamics and reactivity. Part of the work will be directed also to calculate vibrational spectra at the interfaces to interpret the experimental data at the molecular level. Vibrational spectra will permit to obtain time and frequency dependent information on the complex network of interactions which characterizes the interface between a liquid and a solid.

• You hold PhD in in computational/theoretical physics/chemistry/material science. • You have significant experience in molecular dynamics/electronic structure theory and statistical physics.
