Postdoctoral fellowship in the School of Chemistry, University of Leicester, UK

A three-year postdoctoral fellowship is available in the School of Chemistry at the University of Leicester. The aim of this project is to understand how helium interacts with molecular ions. More specifically, we are interested in the quantum mechanical behaviour of helium around an ion. The project is largely experimental and involves exploiting helium nanodroplets to generate helium-tagged ions, which will then be investigated by laser spectroscopy. We will also collaborate with theoreticians who can model the quantum nuclear dynamics of the helium solvent.
