Postdoc position on attosecond physics in 2D materials at NRC, Ottawa, Canada

The Joint Attosecond Science Laboratory (JASLab) of the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) and the University of Ottawa (uOttawa) is seeking a motivated postdoc to work on high-field photonics in solids, specifically in quantum and 2-dimensional materials and their heterostructures. The proposed research builds upon our expertise in this subject area and in nanostructured solids [Nature 522, 462-464 (2015); PRL 115, 193603 (2015); Optica 6, 553-556 (2019); Science 357, 303-306 (2017); Nature Physics 14, 1006-1010 (2018); Comm. Phys. 3, 1-6 (2020)].

 

The candidate will join the team of JASLab (www.attoscience.ca) and be also part of the Joint Center for Extreme Photonics (www.extremephotonics.com), a new high-profile collaboration center between NRC and uOttawa. JASLab is home to cutting-edge ultrafast infrastructure as well as extensive attosecond science knowledge (in theory and experiment). These conditions put the candidate in a position to be highly productive right from the start. The connection with the University of Ottawa is strong, and part of the work will be conducted jointly with groups there, including the Max Planck-uOttawa Center for Extreme and Quantum Photonics (http://www.mpc-eqp.ca/en/).
