PhD positions in molecular collision dynamics at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland
A number of PhD positions are available in molecular scattering at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, UK. They are associated with a large, funded project (EPSRC Programme Grant ‘New Directions in Molecular Scattering’) held jointly with University of Oxford (see https://molecularscattering.com/).
Specific projects available, lead investigators, and links for more detailed descriptions include:
Dynamics of atmospherically relevant gas-liquid surface reactions probed through real-space imaging (Ken McKendrick)
Inelastic and reactive molecular scattering dynamics (Matt Costen)
Probing the dynamics of atmospherically relevant gas-liquid surface reactions using velocity-map imaging (Stuart Greaves)
Reactive-atom scattering as a novel probe of ionic-liquid surfaces (Ken McKendrick)
Funding is via the James-Watt Fellowship scheme, which will provide fees and stipend for UK Home students, or others (subject to conditions) who have been in settled in the UK for at least 3 years.
Informal enquiries should be made to the lead investigator of the relevant project(s):
Prof Matt Costen (m.l.costen@hw.ac.uk)
Dr Stuart Greaves (s.j.greaves@hw.ac.uk) Prof Ken McKendrick (k.g.mckendrick@hw.ac.uk) (and also any general enquiries)
Deadline for applications: 31 Mar 2023
Formal applications must be made through the Heriot-Watt University website:
