PhD position in vibrational hydrate cluster spectroscopy in Göttingen, Germany

A 3-year PhD position is available in BENCh (, a research training group at the University of Göttingen dedicated to benchmark experiments and blind challenges at the service of quantum chemistry and quantum dynamics.

The project in the Suhm group builds on a recent successful blind challenge for the prediction of hydrogen bond effects in solvating water molecules (HyDRA, see and will generate new spectroscopic data for the rigorous testing of theoretical models, using a gas recycling concept for supersonic jet expansions (see For more details on the offered position, see

Motivated candidates with a Master's degree in chemistry or physics, with some experience in experimental vibrational spectroscopy or cold molecules, and with a keen interest in such collaborative worldwide efforts to improve the predictive power of quantum chemistry, are encouraged to apply by email (single pdf file to and copy to M. Suhm before mid-October 2022.
