PhD position at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland

A PhD position is available in the group of Andreas Osterwalder at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland.

We study fundamental aspects of chemical reactivity in the gas-phase, at gas-liquid interfaces, and at liquid-liquid interfaces:

Crossed and merged molecular beam experiments are used to study gas-phase reaction dynamics and stereodynamics at less than 1 Kelvin. Reactant molecules are steered, state-selected, and aligned using combinations electric and magnetic fields.
Interfaces are studied using liquid flat-jets either by combining two different (miscible) solutions for the investigation of kinetics at liquid-liquid (water-water) interfaces, or by crossing a molecular beam with a flat jet to study gas-liquid scattering dynamics.

More information on these reactions and our work from the past years can be found in the references below and on our website,
Please apply to Andreas Osterwalder, Applications should include a letter of motivation, CV, copies of relevant degrees, and the contact information of two references.
