PhD position at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland

A PhD position is available in the group of Andreas Osterwalder at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland.

We study fundamental aspects of chemical reactivity in the gas-phase, at gas-liquid interfaces, and at liquid-liquid interfaces:

Crossed and merged molecular beam experiments are used to study gas-phase reaction dynamics and stereodynamics at less than 1 Kelvin. Reactant molecules are steered, state-selected, and aligned using combinations electric and magnetic fields.
Interfaces are studied using liquid flat-jets either by combining two different (miscible) solutions for the investigation of kinetics at liquid-liquid (water-water) interfaces, or by crossing a molecular beam with a flat jet to study gas-liquid scattering dynamics.

More information on these reactions and our work from the past years can be found in the references below and on our website, https://www.epfl.ch/labs/gr-ost/
Please apply to Andreas Osterwalder, andreas.osterwalder@epfl.ch. Applications should include a letter of motivation, CV, copies of relevant degrees, and the contact information of two references.
