Experimental postdoctoral position in ultrafast laser spectroscopy at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, USA.

A postdoctoral position in experimental femtosecond and picosecond laser spectroscopy is available immediately in the research group of Prof. Carlos Crespo in the Department of Chemistry at Case Western Reserve University.

The initial appointment is for 12 months but can be extended for one or more years upon review and mutual agreement. The position is focused on using ultrafast pump-probe transient absorption and time-correlated single-photon counting spectroscopic techniques to elucidate the electronic relaxation mechanisms in all-organic, heavy-atom-free photosensitizer for photocrosslinking, photocatalysis, and photodynamic therapy applications (see Sharma et al. Nature 2021, 591, 152Ortiz-Rodríguez et al. J. Am. Chem. Sci. 2020, 11, 11113). The experimental work might be supplemented with quantum-chemical molecular dynamics simulation and multiconfigurational excited-state calculations. The research program offers excellent opportunities to work side-by-side and to collaborate with experimental and theoretical scientists both in the USA and around the world. 
Candidates should have earned a Ph.D. in physical chemistry, chemical physics, or a closely related discipline. Candidates must have extensive experience and hands-on skills in ultrafast electronic laser spectroscopies, as well as, excellent writing, communication, and mentoring skills.
