Assistant professor position, University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA

The Department of Physics at the University of Alabama @ Birmingham (UAB) is looking to hire a dynamic assistant professor and experimental condensed matter physicist who will enhance our research program and student training on Materials Under Extreme and Non-equilibrium Conditions. In 2023, the department received a $8M grant from the Department of Energy to lead the Stewardship Science Academic Alliance DoE Center of Excellence "Center for Additively Manufactured Complex Systems under Extremes"(CAMCSE). It also received the 2023 American Physical Society’s Improving Undergraduate Physics Education Award, and was selected as a 2023-2025 APS Department of Distinction. In the Fall of 2023, the Department of Physics moved to the new Science and Engineering Complex together with the Department of Biology.
 
This will be the ninth hire in the UAB department of Physics since 2016.
