Job description:
- daily startup and operation of the L3 HAPLS laser system from the laser control room
- undertake routine maintenance tasks
- produce and maintain necessary documentation
- contribute to hands-on experimental work on prototyping and laser development towards higher energy output
- contribute to further development of laser controls and Graphical User Interface
- contribute to development of operation manuals
- support daily operation of laser development laboratory
Requirements:
- university degree (Bc. or MA) in area of Physics, Electronics or Engineering, or other degree in Laser physics, Quantum Electronics, Optics or Applied physics
- practical experience in experimental or operational environment
- engineering skills
- good working knowledge of English
Control systems operator (172)
Job description:
- supporting operation of complex control systems of large experimental physics facility based on high energy, high peak power laser systems
- routine operation and monitoring of various computing, process control, machine safety and data acquisition systems
- providing fast response control systems support of the daily operation of the facility
- creation of technical documentation, incident and operational logs
- support of the development team in improvement of the infrastructure
Requirements:
- completed secondary school education (University degree in technical field preferred)
- proven IT skills
- knowledge of at least one of the following programming languages: Python, Javascript, LabVIEW, C, C#
- excellent command of English
Desirable:
- basic knowledge of networks, lasers, vacuum systems, cryogenic plant, gas handling and water systems
- familiarity with reading electrical/ cabinet wiring diagrams
Leader of Engineering Support Group (182)
The Role:
The Department of Technology Infrastructure and Instrumentation Services of ELI Beamlines has a vacancy for a leader Engineering Support Group (ESG). The group provides expert technical support of commissioning activities, upgrades, and operation of complex scientific instrumentation. This includes in particular large scale in vacuum laser beam transport systems, secondary sources driven by high peak power lasers and experimental user stations with various optics and targets operated in vacuum. The group leader manages a team of approximately fifteen technical staff and coordinates the activities with the activities with Scientific groups, Control Systems Group, Installations Group and Department of Construction and Design Support.
Job description:
- management of an expert team providing engineering and technical support to the scientific groups during design, installation, and commissioning of the experimental equipment
- coordination of commissioning and maintenance activities of mechanical part of scientific instrumentation of ELI Beamlines
- responsibility for implementation and management of mechanical systems and laser beam transport systems
- responsibility for coordination of technical documents processing
- preparation of technical documents for tenders
- coordination with other expert teams
Requirements:
- university degree in technical field or natural sciences (PhD preferred)
- proven experience in design and development of complex technological systems (research infrastructures preferably)
- ability to understand scientific needs, strong leadership capability, effective time management, prioritisation, and delegation skills
- familiarity with photonics industry
- excellent command of English
Desirable:
- experience in coordination and management of a small team
- high quality communication, and interpersonal skills
- previous knowledge of UHV vacuum systems and work in cleanroom environment
- experience in public tender preparation
- experience in cooperation with industry sector
