The Workshop

Since its invention over 50 years ago, the laser has found applications across many areas of science and medicine, ranging from fundamental research using spectroscopy and imaging techniques to clinical applications for diagnosis and treatment. This foresight workshop will bring together leading experts to explore the current state of the art of laser-based biomedical science, and to map out the prospects for future applications and developments in the area.

The Venue

Situated in the heart of London, the Royal Society is the UK’s national academy of science, founded in 1660. The Royal Society is a self-governing Fellowship of many of the world’s most distinguished scientists drawn from all areas of science, engineering, and medicine, and has played a part in some of the most fundamental, significant, and life-changing discoveries in scientific history.

Participation

The workshop will be open to biomedical scientists from Laserlab-Europe and other European institutions. In the case that demand for places exceeds the meeting capacity, non-Laserlab participants will be selected to cover a range of science areas as wide as possible. We hope the meeting will be attended by researchers at all career levels, ranging from doctoral students and early-career researchers to senior scientists.
