Lasers, Plasmas et Procédés Photoniques, CNRS, Marseille, France
Description: LP3 is an academic laboratory located in Marseilles, France. Its research staff is 25 people, with major activities focused on pulsed lasers and on investigations of the mechanisms of laser-matter interactions in order to develop novel laser processing techniques. The main fields of applications include micro and nanoelectronics, energy (solar cells, nuclear), laser manufacturing, transport, health, environment, nanotechnologies and instrumentations.
For the experimental studies, LP3 houses an excimer laser delivering an average power higher than 1000 W at 308 nm (unique in the world). The uniqueness of LP3 infrastructure also comes from the direct coupling of ps (Nd:YAG) and fs (ytterbium) lasers with inverted optical microscopes including 3D nanometer resolution translation stages, the possibility to associate/use/compare in the same experimental set-up several laser sources and, the coupling of laser sources with the experimental set-up, the surface characterization tools and a class 1 clean room.
