Partners - LLC
Lund Laser Centre, Lunds Universitet, Lund, Sweden
Description: The LLC is the largest unit in the
Scandinavian countries in the field of lasers and their use in
spectroscopy, diagnostics and analysis. It consists of a number of
divisions with complementary expertise in
different aspects of advanced spectroscopy and diagnostics:
- Lasers, basic and applied spectroscopy: High power laser-matter interaction (high harmonics, attophysics, particle acceleration, time-resolved X-ray absorption and diffraction) - Time-resolved spectroscopy of atoms and ions - Environmental monitoring of air, water and building facades - Quantum information (quantum computing, optical storage).
- Lasers in high-temperature gas analysis: Basic studies of spectroscopic properties of combustion species - Laser diagnostics applied to burners, engines and turbines.
- Chemical dynamics: Ultrafast and single-molecule spectroscopy of molecules and materials: Chemical reaction dynamics and control - Natural and artificial photosynthesis - Light-induced processes in solar energy conversion materials - Photoprotection processes.
- Biomedical laser applications: Optical spectroscopy and imaging of malignant disease - Photodynamic and thermal treatment of cancer and vessel disorders - Spectroscopic analysis of gas in tissues for medical diagnostics.
Excellence: Research with short-pulse and
high-intensity lasers, X-ray sources, atomic spectroscopy,
astrophysical spectroscopy, chemical dynamics, quantum information,
high-temperature gas diagnostics,
environmental monitoring, medical diagnostics and treatment – all with
many high-level publications
Main tasks: The LLC is an infrastructure providing
Access with a long experience. Access is offered in all
the scientific subfields listed above, and in additional fields,
through sub-conctracting to CLLC, Coimbra.
The LLC is also a participant in the ALADIN, LAPTECH and OPTBIO
JRAs.
Previous experience: The LLC has since 1996 been a
member in EC funded European consortia of Laser
Facilities providing Access (more than 1500 Access days, well over 100
projects).
