Centro de Laseres Pulsados Ultraintensos / Center for Ultraintense Pulsed Lasers
Description: This Center is a Consortium between
the Spanish Ministerio de Educacion y Ciencia, the
Regional Government of the Junta de Castilla y Leon and the University
of Salamanca. The Consortium was
established in 2007 to build a National Center for Ultraintense Lasers
and specifically to build a PW laser
with Ti:Sapphire technology of approximately 20 J / 20 fs. The
Consortium is presently working at the
dependences of the Servicio Laser of the University of Salamanca,, and
will move in two years to a
dedicated specific new building.
Excellence: The CLPU is the National Centre for such
lasers. It is opened to Users (mostly from Spain, but
some international Users have already been received). It operates a 20
TW laser.
Main tasks: Organisation of Task 4 (Thematic Network
NAUUL) in WP 4 (Networking Activity 3) and of
the User Training, supported by a subcontract with UCM in WP 5
(Networking Activity 4)
Previous experience: Since 2003 the Laser Service at
the University of Salamanca operates a 0.5 TW
Ti:Sappire laser. The laboratory is since then the reference laboratory
in Spain for ultraintense lasers.
