Partners - CELIA
Centre Lasers Intenses et Applications, University of Bordeaux-I, CNRS, Bordeaux, France
Description: Located in Bordeaux, France, CELIA is
a Joint Research Unit of Université de Bordeaux 1,
CNRS and CEA, under CNRS administration. Research at CELIA covers the
whole field of interactions
between intense lasers and matter, and their applications, from the
physics of hot and dense plasmas to the
physics of laser–molecule or laser-atom interactions. Research at CELIA
is balanced between a major
theoretical effort, especially in the field of Inertial Confinement
Fusion, and experimental programmes,
either on site of the CELIA infrastructure in Bordeaux, or in
partnership with the neighbouring CEA/CESTA
centre in Le Barp. CELIA and CESTA therefore constitute a joint
Bordeaux node within the LASERLAB
EUROPE Consortium.
Excellence: CELIA has expertise in several fields,
in particular generation of ultra-short pulses of Extreme
UV and X-rays, and in the development of high average power, high
repetition rate lasers. CELIA
experimentalists are also instrumental to many experiments Europe-wide
on high energy laser systems.
Main tasks: CELIA will be strongly involved in four
LASERLAB EUROPE activities : the JRAs HAPPIE
and ALADIN, the Access program, and as coordinator of one networking
activity : NA3 (Scientific and
Technological Exchanges). CELIA will also collaborate with CESTA on the
Access program of CESTA.
Previous experience: CELIA has been very active in
the FP6 LASERLAB EUROPE I3, in particular in the
field of attosecond pulse generation (FOSCIL JRA), and of laser
research and development (OTTER JRA).
Independently from the FP6 LASERLAB EUROPE Access program, CELIA has
hosted several User groups
for Access experiments in the framework of national or international
collaborations.
